Scientists at the Cleveland Clinic conducted a study in 2006 with patients suffering from familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP), a hereditary condition in which hundreds of pre-malignant polyps, develop & can eventually turn malignant.
The scientists supplemented the FAP patients with 480 mg of curcumin & 20 mg of quercitin 3X daily for six months.
Their findings showed that curcumin along with another anti-inflammatory polyphenol called Quercetin caused these polyps to substantially diminish.
Every single patient showed an average reduction in polyp numbers of 60% and a size reduction of 51%
Researchers studied the effect of curcumin on 23 different strains of fungi. They found curcumin is effective in preventing candida and other fungal strains from attaching to cells in the mouth.
And even though non-steroidal drugs such as Celebrex produce similar results, the side effects were considerable.
