LaktoferrinLaktoferrin contains lactoferrin, a natural substance that provides numerous benefits to :
Lactoferrin is a bioactive glycoprotein (composed of a protein and a carbohydrate) found in breast milk and in small quantities in most body fluids. It is manufactured by mucosal lining (in the mouth and intestinal tract) and by white blood cells. Lactoferrin is concentrated in oral cavities where it will come in direct contact with pathogens (i.e. viruses, bacteria, etc.) and kills or greatly suppresses these pathogens through a variety of different mechanisms. Lactoferrin is a powerful anti-microbial. An antimicrobial is a substance that kills or inhibits the growth of microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, or protozoans, as well as destroying viruses. This is due to lactoferrin’s extremely high affinity to binding iron. Many pathogenic bacteria need a supply of free iron to multiply. Taking lactoferrin strongly inhibits or kills pathogenic bacteria. A recent study found that lactoferrin strongly inhibited the toxic bacteria
One study found that lactoferrin strongly inhibited the toxic bacteria
Additional studies have found lactoferrin to strongly or partially inhibit:
Lactoferrin has the ability to reduce inflammation by regulating certain inflammatory cytokines. Cytokines are any of a number of substances that are secreted by specific cells of the immune system which carry signals locally between cells, and thus have an effect on other cells. High levels of these cytokines are seen in individuals with inflammatory autoimmune conditions (rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, asthma, allergies, etc.) In conclusion Laktoferrin health benefits may include:
