ATP Cofactors

ATP stands for adenosine triphosphate and combines Riboflavin- Vitamin B2 and Niacin- Vitamin B3 into a sustained release formula that makes them available to the body for about 24 hrs. Riboflavin & Niacin are the precursors for the cofactors FADH2 (Flavin Adenine Dinucleotide) an electron accepter that is utilized in cellular respiration and NADH (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) an antioxidant enzyme facilitator which is present in all living cells. These cofactors are required to produce ATP, the high energy molecule which is the body’s metabolic fuel. They also play an important role in the oxidation and transport of iodide to tissues (thyroid, muscle, ovary, breast, etc.)

ATP is the biochemical way to store and use energy. It is essential for your muscles and in fact every cell in your body to keep them going. As muscles work they consume more and more ATP and it must be replaced in order for the muscles to keep working.

ATP is used for many cell functions including:

• Moving substances across cell membranes
• Supplying the energy needed for muscle contraction
• Providing the energy needed for blood circulation in the heart muscle
• Supplying the skeletal muscle energy needed for body movement
• Enabling the chromosomes and flagella to carry out their many functions. Flagella are long, thread-like appendages which provide some live single cells with the ability to move, motility.
